Misinformation and Digital Platforms: What do we know and what can we do?

Guest Speaker: Dr. Porismita Borah, Professor of Communication, Edward R. Murrow College at WSU

Program Description: This talk will highlight examples of the flow of misinformation in digital platforms, highlighting some of the challenges and solutions. We will discuss several topics including ways in how mis/disinformation spreads, the consequences of exposure to such false information, why people believe in misinformation, and what can we do to combat misinformation. The talk will also cover AI’s role in spreading as well as combatting misinformation.
